CIO by day, Cop by night: Dealing with stressful users
9:00 am - 9:50 am
For six years, I was a university CIO during the week and a Reserve Police Officer on the weekends. I learned that great officers can deescalate high-stress or confrontational situations using techniques that easily apply to IT. In this session, I will share my insight on policing skills I learned that can be readily used to improve IT interactions and public perception (handcuffs not included). “Slow is smooth, and smooth is fast”.
