Improving Your Online Course (IYOC)

Facilitator: Dr. Roxann Humbert, Retired Associated Professor of Education and Founding and Executive Director of WVROCKS

The “Improving Your Online Course” workshop explores the QM Rubric and provides a framework to improve the quality of online courses. Participants use the QM Higher Ed Rubric to review their own online courses and develop a course improvement plan. The content is based on the essential Specific Review Standards of the Quality Matters Rubric. Participants come away with a plan for course improvement so enrolling in the workshop with a pre-developed online course is required.

Audience
Faculty, Adjunct Instructors and Instructional Designers with a course they want to improve.

Learning Objectives

  1. Recognize the foundational concepts of Quality Matters.
  2. Apply the essential Specific Review Standards of the Quality Matters Rubric to your own online course.
  3. Describe the alignment of at least one module/unit in your online course.
  4. Prioritize improvements to your online course.

Requirements

  • An online course to improve.
  • Bring your own device with Firefox or Google Chrome and capability to access the Internet
  • From a participating QM Higher Ed institution (AB, BRCTC, BSC, BVCTC, CU, EWVCTC, FSU, GSU, HJC, MU, MCTC, NRCTC, PCTC, SWVCTC, WLU, WVNCC, WVU, WVUP)

Getting to Know Blackboard Learn System Administration

#2 – Tuesday 1/2 Day

During this session we will focus on the fundamentals of user, course and tools management to help with support processes and day-to-day tasks within Blackboard Learn.

Advanced features including understanding the use of Institution Roles, the Content Collection and possibilities of customizing SIS integrations will also be discussed.

Most of what will be covered will focus on higher level functionality or processes. However, Blackboard will be at the event throughout and invite deeper dives on questions throughout the event. For those who like to explore their own systems or who would like to perform actions during the session related to the topic a device would be well suited.

Creative Cloud Road Trip

The change from CS6 to Logins for the Creative Cloud is a lot like a road trip. There are thousands of new things to see but which ones are sure to be an epic adventure vs a gas wasting total bust? In this Pre-Conference you will join your tour guide Dan Armstrong to discover the new world of the Creative Cloud. The trip starts with understanding how Creative Cloud Storage, Libraries, and Services change the way we use our favorite apps. Then we will make a stop at Adobe Illustrator to create micro assets for our library to keep our brand on point. The next stop on the road trip is to Lightroom Mobile for some work with some photos. We will then stop off at Integration city to see how Creative Cloud and Microsoft can work together.  This is one road trip you don’t want to miss!

  • Installed on the laptop – Creative Cloud Desktop App, Illustrator, and Creative Cloud Add-in for Word
  • A phone with Lightroom Mobile installed
