Presentation Title: “Navigating Tech Integration: A Role-Playing Simulation for Instructional Coaches”
Step into the role of an instructional coach in this hands-on simulation! Work through real teacher scenarios, co-plan meaningful tech-infused lessons, and refine your coaching skills. Walk away with practical strategies to support effective technology integration.
This session is designed to equip Technology Integration Specialists (TISs), instructional coaches, and administrators with practical coaching strategies to support teachers in thoughtful and effective technology integration. Using a role-playing simulation, participants will engage in scenario-based problem-solving to refine their co-planning and coaching conversations with educators.
Key Components of the Session:
Role-Playing Simulation: Attendees will be assigned a teacher persona (e.g., Skeptical Susan, Too-Many-Tabs Terry) with unique attitudes toward technology. They will also receive a randomized grade level and subject area to craft a tech-infused learning experience.
Coaching & Problem-Solving: Participants will navigate challenges such as teacher hesitation, tech overload, and balancing structure with innovation while working through real-world instructional dilemmas.
Practical Application: The session will focus on differentiated coaching approaches, strategies for meaningful technology use, and how to move teachers beyond surface-level tech integration (e.g., digital worksheets) toward higher-order thinking and engagement.

Why This Session Matters
Technology is often underutilized or misused in classrooms due to a lack of strategic coaching. This session provides a hands-on, engaging approach to professional learning that helps coaches and leaders refine their support strategies and elevate instructional technology practices.
By the end, participants will leave with immediately applicable coaching techniques and a ready-to-use PD activity to implement in their districts.
