Integrating Computer Science Education in elementary school is crucial for fostering a generation of creative, critical thinkers prepared for the digital world. It
helps students develop problem-solving skills, computational thinking, and adaptability, all essential for success in diverse fields. Furthermore, it can boost
academic performance and build confidence in technology. This presentation will focus on how CS Education is integrated in K-5 classrooms, and how CodeWV
can support K-5 educators with free workshops and curriculum, such as Code.org. It will allow K-5 teachers and technology specialists to try elementary-level
computer science, coding, and robotics activities. We will also discuss ways AI Education can be integrated into elementary classrooms using developmentally
appropriate and cross-curricular projects.
CodeWV can help expand Computer Science in K-12 WV Schools. CodeWV offers hands-on support to West Virginia K-12 teachers who are inspired to bring
computer science into their classrooms, free of charge. No prior computer science teaching experience is required for any grade level. We are a Regional Partner of Code.org.
