Digital Publishing Governance at the West Virginia Department of Education
Summary

Learn how the West Virginia Department of Education built a new publishing system in 2025 that empowers content experts to publish directly within the Content Management System while freeing technical professionals from the tedium of content updates.

Description

Our project goals for wvde.us were anchored by the vision of a new editorial workflow which enables 30+ editors within the organization to publish content directly within the CMS while ensuring that quality standards are consistently achieved through editorial oversight. This presentation discusses that vision and how we navigated every aspect of the project including; requirements gathering, organizational alignment, government purchasing, content strategy, design, development, infrastructure, and ongoing operational oversight.
