Presentation Title: “The West Virginia Scholastic Esports League”
Current, former and prospective West Virginia High School and Middle School esports coaches convene to discuss starting, funding, and coaching esports teams at the scholastic level. The presentation will begin with league founder Chase Jarrell, and will feature extensive Q&A and discussion.
My presentation will begin with a quick summary of both my team's and the state's history with esports. I will then allow presentation attendees to determine which issues need the most attention, such as finding funding, seeking board approval, scheduling, equipment/internet maintenance, navigating the WVSEL Discord and Battlefy website, and more.
Current, former, and prospective esports coaches at high schools and middle schools, as well as college coaches seeking to help with the league or recruit students would definitely want to attend.
**There would be great benefit in offering multiple sessions of this presentation, such as Block I and Block II.**

I am a social studies educator at Ravenswood High School in West Virginia. I founded the esports team at my school as the head coach in 2022 and led my Overwatch 2 team to the first ever state championship in West Virginia. In addition to this, I founded the WVSEL, the current state esports league for all high schools and middle schools in WV.
